November 20, 2020 — NuWave LLC has been hit with a lawsuit after a woman was burned when her Nutri-Pot Pressure Cooker exploded as she opened the lid.
The lawsuit was filed by Tiffany B., a woman from Indiana who claims she was injured on December 10, 2018 as a result of defective safety features on her Nutri-Pot Pressure Cooker.
Tiffany was burned on her stomach and legs when she opened the lid on her Nutri-Pot when it was still pressurized, allowing the “scalding hot contents to be forcefully ejected from the pressure cooker.”
The Nutri-Pot Pressure Cooker was supposed to have built-in safety features, such as the Sure Lock® Safety System, to prevent this type of accident.
NuWave claimed the Sure-Lock® Safety System would prevent the pressure cooker from building up pressure until the lid was properly closed and locked.
Furthermore, the Sure-Lock® Safety System was supposed to lock the lid until all of the pressure was safely released.
Instead, the lawsuit claims that consumers can easily twist open the Nutri-Pot’s lid before it is safe, resulting in an explosion of hot food.
The Nuwave Nutri-Pot Pressure Cooker Lawsuit was filed on November 16, 2020, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (Eastern Division) — Case Number 1:20-cv-06784.
