Crofton Chef’s Collection 6L Stainless-Steel Pressure Cooker
Six people suffered 2nd-degree or 3rd-degree burns when their ALDI pressure cooker exploded boiling-hot food and steam, according to the consumer group Choice.
Investigators with Choice report that all 6 people were severely burned by the recalled ALDI pressure cooker, including one woman who was standing very close to the pressure cooker when it exploded.
The person who was most seriously injured suffered 3rd-degree burns to 35% of their body. Consumers reported burn injuries to their arms, torso, face, and eyes when the pressure cooker exploded.
Because 4 of the victims were burned after the pressure cooker was recalled, Choice consumer group is demanding that lawmakers make businesses accountable for recalling dangerous home products.
ALDI stores in Australia sold the pressure cooker, known as the “Crofton Chef’s Collection 6L Stainless-Steel Pressure Cooker,” for $60.
ALDI has warned consumers to “immediately” stop using the product — but although nearly 8,500 were recalled, only about 25% of the pressure cookers were returned to ALDI, according to Choice.
