October 3, 2023 — A pressure cooker lawsuit has been filed by a woman who was burned when the lid exploded off her Ninja Foodi Pressure Cooker.
The plaintiff is a woman from El Cajon, California, who accuses SharkNinja Operating LLC of selling her a defective pressure cooker with a lid that fails to lock, as advertised.
According to her lawsuit, the failure of the locking mechanisms in the lid resulted in the “pressure cooker’s lid suddenly and unexpectedly exploding off the pressure cooker’s pot,” causing her to suffer “disfiguring burns.”
When the lid exploded off the pressure cooker, she claims that it caused the “scalding hot contents to be forcefully ejected from the pressure cooker” and onto her body.
She also claims that the Ninja Foodi Pressure Cooker is defective for another reason, because the “lid can be rotated and opened while the unit remains pressurized.”
This type of accident can also result in hot food, liquid, or steam exploding out of the pot and burning consumers.
She is seeking compensation from SharkNinja for her pain and suffering, medical expenses, painful bodily injuries, lost wages, and diminished enjoyment of life.
Her Ninja Foodi Pressure Cooker Lawsuit was filed on August 16, 2023 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California — Case 3:23-cv-01503-AJB-KSC.
