April 17, 2024 — A lawsuit has been filed by a woman who claims that the lid on her Ninja Foodi Tendercrisp Pressure Cooker blew off the pot, causing severe burns.
The plaintiff in the lawsuit, Sydney C., is a woman from Florida who claims that she was burned on Christmas Day in December 2022.
She was using a Ninja Foodi Deluxe 8-Quart Tendercrisp Pressure Cooker (Model 0P401BRN I07) when the “pressure cooker’s lid unexpectedly and suddenly blew off the pot in explosive manner.”
Because there was still a dangerous amount of pressure trapped within the unit, the explosion ejected the scalding-hot contents of the pot:
“The contents of the pressure cooker were forcefully ejected out of the pot and onto Plaintiff, causing severe, disfiguring burns.”
The lawsuit contains photos of her burn injuries, showing extensive areas of skin on her body that are red, inflamed, or peeling off.
She accuses SharkNinja LLC of misleading her and other customers by advertising the Ninja Foodi Pressure Cooker with numerous claims of safety.
For example, the Owner’s Manual states: “NOTE: The pressure lid will not unlock until the unit is completely depressurized.”
The lawsuit was filed against SharkNinja LLC on April 2, 2024 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida (Jacksonville Division) — Case Number 3:24-cv-00334-WWB-JBT.
