August 13, 2024 — A lawsuit has been filed by a man who claims that the Power Pressure Cooker XL has defective safety features.
The lawsuit was filed by Vincent W., a resident of Sarasota, Florida. He claims that Tristar Products misled consumers about the safety of the Power Pressure Cooker XL.
According to his lawsuit, he suffered serious burn injuries on March 28, 2020, when he was able to easily twist open the lid on his Power Pressure Cooker XL while it was still pressurized.
His lawsuit cites many advertising statements made by Tristar Products regarding the safety features, specifically the locking lid.
For example, the Owner’s Manual makes several statements about “Built-In Safety Features,” such as: “Lid Safety Device: Prevents pressure build-up if the lid is not closed properly and prevents the lid from opening until all of the pressure is released.
The lawsuit also claims that Tristar Products made misleading statements in several YouTube videos advertising the Power Pressure Cooker XL, such as: “The lid on the Power Pressure Cooker XL can only come off if there’s no pressure left inside the pot.”
Tristar Products is accused of selling pressure cookers that are defective because the safety features failed to “prevent the lid from being removed with normal force while the unit remained pressurized.”
His pressure cooker lawsuit was filed on March 15, 2024 in the Circuit Court of the Twelfth Judicial District (Sarasota County, Florida) — Filing #194123928.
